There are so many heartbreaking stories. A 2 year old boy was badly burned, when the mosquito net that he was sleeping under caught on fire from a candle. He did not receive medical treatment, and is terrible scarred. We were able to open a clinic in November, 2009. They have been very busy delivering babies, sewing up cuts, treating malaria, treating many stomach problems, and other illnesses. The MMS is very effective in treating malaria. The workers say that people will walk miles to come to the clinic and be treated with the MMS, because it is more effective than conventional methods. There are requests for 2 more clinics, and we are looking at land and making plans to build another clinic in the future. |
"If we would elevate the moral standard of any country where we may be called to go, we must begin by correcting the physical habits of the people." {HL 272.2} "The medical missionary can do a great amount of good by educating the people as to how to live." {HL 272.4} The workers in the clinic are also teaching the people in regard to cleanliness, and eating healthfully.

As through it men and women are led to see the importance of right habits of living, the saving power of the truth will be made known. Every city is to be entered by workers trained to do medical missionary work. People are being educated regarding diabetes, high blood pressure, prenancy, and basic hygiene. We are looking for good charts that could be used in teaching. If you know of any, please let us know. They are requesting many more books in their language. We have been able to print "Desire of Ages," "Steps to Christ," and "Great Controversy" in Swahili. "Christ Object Lessons" and "Ministry of Healing" have also been recently printed in Swahili. We are raising funds to print "Patriarchs and Prophets" also in Swahili. In Ghana, we have printed "Steps to Christ" in the Twi language. "Desire of Ages" was translated into the "Twi" language, and we are advised as of Dec. 15, 2008, they are at the printers. This will be the first available copy of "Deisre of Ages" in their language in Ghana. We now have requests for these books in Nigeria, but we do not have the funds at present to assist.
